Storm Stone Release
At this writing, we are one week out from the release of 'Storm Stone,' my new fantasy novella. Official release date is June 28 2026 and links to both the print and free ebook editions may be found at Arachis Press (arachispress.com). This is a tale of Qala, the eventual Pirate Queen, when she is a young and rising pirate. That would be somewhat before she appears in 'The Eyes of the Wind' but perhaps a decade after 'The Sword and the City.'

Night Rains
The new collection of poetry from Stephen Brooke, NIGHT RAINS, will be officially released on April 21, 2026. This is both the writer's birthday and appropriate to 'National Poetry Month.' We have attempted to release collections on this date the past couple years. Here's the official blurb:
To linger in forbidden gardens,
dream beneath the black rose tree,
to play the tunes for fairy dances
through all night’s eternity,
I seek those distant ebon towers,
stark beside a shadowed sea
where misted perfumes of the darkness
rise in writhing ecstasy.
Visit lands both real and imagined — though who is to say which is which? — in Stephen Brooke’s collection of poems, NIGHT RAINS.
And here is the cover:
The book will be available from Arachis Press (arachispress.com) in print or as free ebooks.

Creative Commons
I have decided to move most of my material to one Creative Commons license or another. This does not actually change much, in that I was already giving the ebooks away. It should make their copyright status clearer. I'll probably do something similar with my music, if I get back to recording or publishing it.
All the sites and blogs to which I am connected already have CC notices on them. I'll get to the books as I can, but the two I should be releasing in the next couple months will contain Creative Commons license notices. Those are, incidentally, a poetry collection, Night Winds, and a new hardcover edition of Donzalo's Destiny.

Night Rains Coming
We have chosen the poems (seventy-nine of them) and are working on the layout and formatting of the next Stephen Brooke poetry collection, to be titled NIGHT RAINS. As in years past, we have an April 21 release date (SB's birthday) set. More information when we have some.

Bells
I've added a short story, 'Bells and Whistles,' to my archive. This is a little piece featuring Ted 'Shaper' Carrol, protagonist of the Cully Beach crime-and-surfing novels. Introspective with little action, but a little back-story for anyone interested.

The Moon and the Sea Release
My new poetry collection, THE MOON AND THE SEA, will be officially released tomorrow, April 21 2025 (which also happens to be my birthday). Available from Arachis Press (arachispress.com) as print or free ebooks.

Revised Editions
New editions of my fantasy novels 'Stones in the Sea' and
'The City and the Sword' are now available for purchase. The changes
were mostly proofreading related, tidying things up. In print or as free
ebooks from Arachis Press (arachispress.com).

2025
Although I can not absolutely promise it (I could drop over tomorrow, after all), I expect to release two books in the first half of 2025. One will be a poetry collection, to be titled The Moon and the Sea. The past couple years I attempted to release a poetry book on my birthday (April 21) but I may be more flexible about the release date this year. There will be cover reveals and so on over the coming weeks (or months). I am at the formatting stage at time moment; must have them in the best order and so on.
The other book will be the third Jack Mack science fiction novel, written under the Oliver Davis Pike pen name. This book will be titled 'Dim Distant Stars' and continue the adventures of Jack McFee. More on that as we go, as well.
Beyond these two? I'm sure to write something. Maybe get busy recording too. We'll let you know.

Site and Blog
It may be noted that this blog is now incorporated (after a fashion) into stephenbrooke.com, via a linked tab in the site navigation. If I'd known it was that simple, I would have done it quite some time ago, but I'd been exploring ways to embed a blog instead. This should word just fine and announcements can easily be found by visiting the Stephen Brooke site. Or just come here!

Donzalo Reissue
The all-in-one edition of my very first fantasy novel(s), DONZALO'S DESTINY, is once again available (in revised form) as a paperback. This includes THE SONG OF THE SWORD, THE SHADOW OF ASAK, THE SIGN OF THE ARROW, and THE HAND OF THE SORCERER. All of these component books remain available at Arachis Press (arachispress.com) as paperbacks or free ebooks.

The City and the Sword Release
Today, August 23 2024, is the official release date for Stephen Brooke’s novel THE CITY AND THE SWORD. This is a tale of Qala the Pirate Queen when she was a girl—an origin story, if you will. Although not intended as a Young Adult title, it could certainly be seen as one.
One may order print or download free ebooks at the Arachis Press site (arachispress.com) or go directly to the print listing at our store.

This Year and Next
Covers for some upcoming releases. The fantasy novel, THE CITY AND THE SWORD is one week away, officially out on Aug 23. Counting Words is a poetry collection scheduled for an Oct 25 release. The reissue of the complete Donzalo's Destiny (containing all four books) will probably be in Sept. And the poetry collection The Moon and the Sea should be sometime in 2025. All from Arachis Press.

All-In-One Donzalo
We have decided to re-release the all-in-one edition of my epic fantasy, “Donalo’s Destiny,” in paperback (no hard cover, at least for now). It was withdrawn from publication when we released newly edited and typeset versions of the four constituent novels (more or less novels though one can see DD as one long novels), “The Song of the Sword,” “The Shadow of Asak,” “The Sign of the Arrow,” and “The Hand of Sorcerer.” Plans are to make the book available before the end of the year.
However, the separate volumes remain available, both in print and as free ebooks, and will continue so, at Arachis Press (arachispress.com).

Counting Words Coming
We have decided not to hold the new poetry collection, 'Counting Words,' until next year, as originally intended. The release date now (and this is fairly solid) is October 25. More news, cover reveal, and so on to come in a bit (once 'The City and the Sword' is out). 'Counting Words' is a collection of poems with an emphasis on language and its uses, both serious and for play.

At GoodReads
At three weeks out from the 'official' release of my new novel, "The City and the Sword," the book is now up at GoodReads with some early reviews. In truth, it is already available at Arachis Press as print or free ebooks; the announced release date is just so we can build it up a little online first.
"The City and the Sword" page may be found at: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/216907680-the-city-and-the-sword
I do invite any and all to download the novel and leave their own review, whether at GoodReads or anywhere else. Except, of course, Amazon, as it is not available there.
