Covers for some upcoming releases. The fantasy novel, THE CITY AND THE SWORD is one week away, officially out on Aug 23. Counting Words is a poetry collection scheduled for an Oct 25 release. The reissue of the complete Donzalo's Destiny (containing all four books) will probably be in Sept. And the poetry collection The Moon and the Sea should be sometime in 2025. All from Arachis Press.

All-In-One Donzalo
We have decided to re-release the all-in-one edition of my epic fantasy, “Donalo’s Destiny,” in paperback (no hard cover, at least for now). It was withdrawn from publication when we released newly edited and typeset versions of the four constituent novels (more or less novels though one can see DD as one long novels), “The Song of the Sword,” “The Shadow of Asak,” “The Sign of the Arrow,” and “The Hand of Sorcerer.” Plans are to make the book available before the end of the year.
However, the separate volumes remain available, both in print and as free ebooks, and will continue so, at Arachis Press (arachispress.com).

Counting Words Coming
We have decided not to hold the new poetry collection, 'Counting Words,' until next year, as originally intended. The release date now (and this is fairly solid) is October 25. More news, cover reveal, and so on to come in a bit (once 'The City and the Sword' is out). 'Counting Words' is a collection of poems with an emphasis on language and its uses, both serious and for play.

At GoodReads
At three weeks out from the 'official' release of my new novel, "The City and the Sword," the book is now up at GoodReads with some early reviews. In truth, it is already available at Arachis Press as print or free ebooks; the announced release date is just so we can build it up a little online first.
"The City and the Sword" page may be found at: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/216907680-the-city-and-the-sword
I do invite any and all to download the novel and leave their own review, whether at GoodReads or anywhere else. Except, of course, Amazon, as it is not available there.

City and Sword Release Date
It is time to make the official announcement of a release date for my new fantasy novel, THE CITY AND THE SWORD. We (Arachis Press and me) have set it for August 23, 2024, which gets it out there before the Labor Day weekend. Not that official releases mean much in these days of ebooks and print-on-demand. The books will always be available (as long as I am!). Here's the blurb that goes on the back cover and in various ads:
Famod had fallen. Young Lellie and fellow orphan Nib had barely escaped the sack of the port and its attendant horrors. Where could they reach sanctuary and a new life? Across the hills in Tesra, City of Wizardry, seemed the only choice.
There, under the tutelage of Zil, merchant and spy, Lellie finds a purpose she had not known, learning the ways of the sword and much more—all while discovering her own self as she becomes a young woman.
We'll do a cover reveal shortly and tell a bit more about the novel. As ever, it will be available as print paperback and free ebooks (EPUB and PDF).

Coming Sometime
I have pretty much finished writing the new novel, a fantasy work titled The City and the Sword. That means most of the heavy editing work is done, as well, as I am one of those edit as I go sorts. Expect an announcement of a release date in the not too distant future and more details about the book. Maybe even a cover reveal!
I will say now it is a tale of Qala the Pirate Queen as a girl. An origin story of sorts. My original thought was to write a collection of related tales (and to some degree it is one) but enough overall plot developed to label it a novel. An episodic novel but a novel none the less. Think something along the lines of Kipling's Captains Courageous (but without the fish).
